“I ate too much.” –Scott

The sun was warm and the wind was light when the party began. Things started off strong with a rousing game of dodge ball played outside on the trampoline with a giant, blue spiky ball, much too large for most of the children to throw with their small chubby hands. Despite this, four games were played with Miah and Dr.Shin acting as chief “throwers”. The winners were Eric, Noah (twice), and Micheal. Only one player, Paul, was taken off the court with a bloody wound.

            From the southwest came a screaming wind, carrying with it a stinging sand that lodged in the eyes of all the participants, and they were forced to flee, screaming, indoors. After setting up a chess tourney and firing the start gun, Dr.Shin and Miah went to Party City to search for prizes, including little red paratroopers (not well received for some reason), whoopee cushions, and ‘Ollie teeth.’ The Ollie teeth were thoroughly enjoyed (see picture).

            After the tourney, gifts were torn open. Will received a number of gifts including a voice modulator, Rush 2 for the Nintendo 64 and Star Wars lego. One card read, ‘Smile-this is your card. Laugh- this is your gift.’

            The final act of this shindig was the beating of the piñata, which hung outside in the eye of a now ferocious sandstorm. Pieces of the doomed creature flew off in the wind while sugar-stuffed children swung about wildly with a stick, their eyes blinded with sand. Wally beat the final life out of the thing and, taking two chunks under his arms, headed back. Willy, gorged on ice cream cake and adulation, watched Ace Ventura, a smile of satisfaction on his stained little lips. Exhausted, Dr.Shin nestled into the back of an abandoned car with a bottle of Irish whiskey and cried himself to sleep. Miah, blinded by the sand, wandered off into the maelstrom and was swept away...
